We specialize in complete flute overhauls, annual adjustments and maintenance of student and intermediate level flutes and piccolo's. Your flute/piccolo can play and look like new again, and in most cases sound better than ever before. Each instrument repaired is tested by a musician and run through the scales. Each is tone tested with a tuner. We will not work on poor quality no-name instruments, as they do not stay in tune and are very difficult to work with. Our prices are reasonable and most people find that they are able to play better than they did before the servicing. Most instruments go through a period of time which the new pads and adjustments "break in" and become slightly out of adjustment. Temperature, age, amount of moisture all play into this issue. We don't perform miracles, we perform precise and quality service.
All repairs are prefessionally completed and done the proper way. No bending of keys, no clamping during repad, use of proper shims as needed and all adjustments to OEM specifications. There are many Flute and Piccolo technicians, but few work on ONLY the Flute and Piccolo. We do not service any other instrument. The service time is approximately 2 weeks. Any quality service on an instrument requires time. Once the work is completed, the instrument should be played once a day for a week to assure the adjustments are true and the padding (if needed) produces a good seal.
Here is a list of the services we can perform on your Flute or Piccolo.
- Cleaning (polishing of the silver without chemicals).
- Cleaning all of the mechinisms.
- Oil the proper areas of the flute and assuring smooth operation of the linkage/keys.
- Adjustment and aligning of the pads. This is the time consuming part of the job.
- Dent removal. Dent removal is possible with flutes. We use a machine which uses magnetic forces to gently message dents out of instruments. This service is at an extra cost.
- Spring adjustments to assure smooth and appropriate key response.
- Cork clean and grease.
- Leak testing and pad replacement.
We are located in Taylors, SC and service the Greenville, Spartanburg area. Once again, we only work on Beginner to Intermediate instruments. We also offer emergency repairs!
